A Sliding Surface for Controlling a Semi-Bridgeless Boost Converter with Power Factor Correction and Adaptive Hysteresis Band

This paper proposes a new sliding surface for controlling Semi-Bridgeless Boost Converter (SBBC) which simultaneously performs Power Factor Correction (PFC) and DC bus regulation. The proposed is composed of three terms: First, normalized voltage error term controls the rejects disturbances. In this case, normalization was performed increasing system robustness during start-up large Second, an AC current implements PFC scheme guarantees fast stabilization Third, integral increases stability overall system. addition, Adaptive Hysteresis Band (AHB) implemented keeping switching frequency constant reducing distortion in zero crossings. Previous papers usually include first and/or second terms surface, none consider AHB. To be best author’s knowledge, Sliding Mode Control (SMC) control strategy SBBCs that does not require cascade PI or hybrid PI-Sliding (PI-SMC) current, gives dynamic behavior removing overvoltages responding to changes load perturbations. Several simulations were carried out compare performance with control, PI-SMC SMC. Furthermore, analysis under perturbations performed. Experimental results SMC SBBC prototype are also presented.
